Waukesha (Wi.) Catholic Memorial offensive tackle Owen Strebig began a six-stop spring tour with Florida being his first stop on Thursday.
After the visit, the Gators became the first SEC program to offer the 6-foot-8, 290-pounder.

Who came on the visit with you?
“My dad Jason.”
What was the day like as far as what all took place?
“We got there a few hours before practice. Got to the facilities, campus, and stadium. It was great to sit in on meetings and watch practice.”
What was Billy Napier’s message to you?
“The coaches really liked my build. He [Napier] just wanted me to know that I’m welcome anytime.”
What was your impression of the Florida staff this early on in your process?
“I really like the way they coach. [Rob] Sale mentioned he would always coach you hard, but love you harder.”
Florida is unique in that they have two offensive line coaches. What does that mean to a lineman?
“I definitely think the two-coach system is helpful. You get to hear two different ways to improve.”
What was the highlight of the visit?
“Highlight of the day was watching practices. Being able to see players get after it and coaches, coach is a good thing.”
What are your thoughts on the new football facilities?
“The facility was amazing! Very, very impressive.”
What are your thoughts about Florida after taking this visit?
“Florida, after the visit will definitely be up there. Great coaches, a great school, and SEC football. You cannot beat that.”
It’s still early for you, but are there a couple of programs that you know will be there until the very end?
“Wisconsin would probably be the only school, just because it’s my home state and home school. I grew up a Badger fan. Wisconsin is my home state.”
Do you have any other spring visits planned?
When it’s time for you to cut your list and start making a decision, what is going to be important to you?
“I won’t be making a decision for a while. Not until after official visits. I will be looking for the right school for my education and football career.”
Besides Florida, Stebig also has offers from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Penn State, Wisconsin, and others.
