Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons tight end Colton Heinrich hasn’t yet been assigned a ranking by the On3 Consensus, but with the way he is picking up offers, that shouldn’t be too far down the road.
In just a two-hour span on Monday evening the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder, who totaled 23 catches for 464-yards and three touchdowns last year, posted offers from Tennessee and Texas.
Those two programs joined the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Texas A&M, and yes, Florida.
After a great conversation with @PeaglerWilliam and @CoachJuluke I’m extremely thankful to received an offer from the University of Florida @GatorsFB @Redskins32 @5manfree @FootballGibbons @TheCribSouthFLA @larryblustein @On3sports @Andrew_Ivins @RWrightRivals @ConroyWhyte pic.twitter.com/BXeJTMhFY4

QUICK Q&A
Did you have a favorite college team (or player) growing up?
“Growing up I did not have a favorite team but I definitely did keep a close eye on all of the Florida teams.”
You have some impressive early offers, but is there one or two that really caught your attention? A ‘wow’ moment?
“My top two ‘wow’ offers are Alabama and Georgia but Florida is definitely high on that list.”
How did the Florida offer come about? Who did you communicate with and what did they have to say to you?
“So, I first started talking to Coach [William] Peagler and we have continued to build our relationship and he even came to one of my basketball games and he said he loves how versatile I am.”
What are your early impressions of Florida?
“So, obviously growing up in Florida I have always heard about the Gators and I know how large the fanbase is and the support they give. I also have been on the campus several times and know how beautiful it is.”
You’ve visited Florida a few times already?
“I visited when I was younger, but I plan on getting up there on April 6th.”
Have you visited any other college campuses yet?
“I’ve been on a couple of visits already that include Penn State, UCF, and Wake Forest, but I plan on visiting about 15 different schools during the spring.”
It’s still early, but do you have any leaders or are there a couple of programs that you know will be there until the very end for whatever reason?
“As of right now, I am still completely open and exploring my options.”
What is your recruiting timeline like?
“I want to be verbally committed by the start of my senior year.”
What are the important factors you are looking at when you make your decision?
“I am looking for a fan base that supports the college or sort of a college town, and academics are also very important to me.”
