It seems like a lifetime ago but at one time Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades Central High School was considered a pipeline to Florida, with stars such as Reidel Anthony, Johnny Rutledge, and Fred Taylor coming to Gainesville to play for the Gators.

There’s another up-and-coming target in the Central to UF pipeline, and a past player is partially responsible for his interest in the Gators.

6-foot-5, 270-pound offensive tackle Javarii Juckas is the cousin of former Florida backs Fred and Kelvin Taylor.

The three-star said that they have been talking up UF.

“I had family, [The Taylors] that went to Florida and played,” explained Luckas. “Fred and Kelvin, they always say that UF is the place to go. That’s really the main school that they want me to go to.”

Not only are family members in his ear, but he speaks regularly with three Florida coaches as well.

“I talk to Coach [Billy] Napier, Coach [Jonathan] Decoster, and Coach [Rob] Sale the most. They’ve been talking about how they want me at Florida and how it’s a good place for me to be and how they can develop me.”

At this point, Luckas said that he doesn’t have a leaderboard, but some programs are starting to separate from the pack and he has started setting official visits.

“As of right now, I don’t have a top 10 or a top five, but some schools that I’m looking at are: UF, UM, USF, West Virginia, and Penn State.”

Out of those programs, he said he has a couple of official visits set up.

“So I have three OV’s now – Florida May 30, WVU June 6, and USF June 20.”

When it comes time to pick, Florida might be hard to beat.

“UF stands pretty high up there definitely out of the schools I’m thinking of,” said Luckas. “The way Coach Sale and Coach Decoster develop offensive linemen to get to the NFL and the way the whole coaching staff shows so much love.”

Luckas is the No. 1,096 rated prospect in the nation according to the On3 Industry Composite.
