Quick Q&A
Did you have a favorite college team (or player) growing up?
“I never really had a favorite team. I didn’t start playing football ball until June of 2021.”
You have some impressive early offers, but is there one or two that really caught your attention? A ‘wow’ moment?
“The back-to-back champs [Georgia] offered. That’s a big deal. It tells me the hard work is paying off.”
How did the Florida offer come about? Who did you communicate with and what did they have to say to you?
“Cannon Gibbs sent me a camp invite and my dad gave him a call and sent a few of my workouts. They [Coach Kali James] called my coach, and said he liked my film and workout my dad sent and they offered.”
What are your early impressions of Florida?
“I’m really interested In Florida. I’ve been following the D-Line coach for a while now.”
Have you visited any college campuses yet? If so, where and what were a couple of your favorite visits?
“I’ve been to almost every Big10 school. I won MVP at the Michigan and Illinois camps my freshman year.”
Do you have any plans to see any schools over the summer?
I plan on visiting a few Big10 schools and also a few schools down south. Tennessee, and maybe Miami. I’m still working on dates with my dad for Georgia and Alabama.”
Will you make a trip to Florida?
“I plan on going down to Florida soon. Hopefully in June.”
It’s still early, but do you have any leaders or are there a couple of programs that you know will be there until the very end for whatever reason?
“I don’t have a top 10 yet, but I’ve built some good relationships with different coaches so far. There’s no real leaders right now that I’m ready to share.”
What’s going to be important to you when you make your choice?
“My mom hasn’t visited any schools yet, but her opinion will mean a lot.”
Burgess is the No. 268 rated prospect in the nation according to the On3 Consensus.
