For months Florida was the odds-on favorite to be the program that eventually lands Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin four-star safety Hylton Stubbs.
Then, two weeks ago, out of nowhere, the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder pledged to Southern Cal while on an unofficial visit.
“The USC visit was impressive, and my mom was impressed with the staff,” Stubbs told Inside the Gators. “After discussing it with my dad, it felt like USC checked off all the boxes I was looking for, so the commitment felt right.”
That of course isn’t the end of his recruiting process or the Gators’ interest in him.
