Anthony Jennings is a four-star wide receiver from Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He committed to the Gators on April 25th, 2026. He took an official visit to Florida on the weekend of June 6th. Jennings, who goes by the nickname “Speedy”, had an impressive showing at the Friday Night Lights camp in Gainesville. Jennings is the No. 299 overall rated prospect in the class of 2027.

FOOTBALL/RECRUITING
Take us through your recruiting process. What was that like for you?
“Florida was the top school in my recruitment since my sophomore year. Getting on campus for Grill in the Ville and throughout the season. Just the love they showed with the whole staff. After Coach Billy Napier was fired, Coach [Jon] Sumrall, Coach [Marcus] Davis, and Coach [Buster] Faulkner, were a big part of my commitment process. Just showing me how they develop guys to the next level. Eric Singleton freshman All-American, Cam Coleman, just young guys they developed in their old programs. Florida has just been a top school, the love they’ve showed, you know the best stay in Florida.”
Which school would you say came second in your recruitment?
“Syracuse for sure. Coach [Josh] Gattis, you know, is a great guy. He showed me and my mom a good time on the visit. He also coached guys like DeVonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy, a couple of Florida guys that went to Bama, and Nico Collins out of Michigan. He’s a pretty good coach as well. He got Calvin Russell and a couple other young guys at Syracuse now. I’m looking forward to their season too.”
What is the strangest thing that ever happened to you during the recruiting process?
“LSU coach George McDonald, he offered me he was pretty cool, then every time I posted something about Florida, he was always hating on them. He was like ‘dang man why are you always posting Florida?’ Just different stuff like that. I got the offer from LSU later on in the spring; Florida had been in my recruitment before them. Every time I posted something about Florida, he was always just ‘stop posting Florida man post LSU’. I never even touched campus at LSU. I never even met the head coach. That was the weirdest thing, just a coach showing his true colors when things don’t go their way, not really about the kid, and just about how they look.”
What would you say inspired you to start playing football?
“Just kids out there on the field growing up, it’s not really a certain person. I started playing when I was about five, just going to the park and seeing little league teams play. I just always wanted to be out there with them. I started playing super pee wee at five years old. I was always the fastest, burning by everybody as a kid growing up, that’s how I got the nickname speedy. I took a break from when I was five till about eight. I’ve been on the rise ever since.”
What is your favorite professional football team?
“Detroit Lions. I’m more of a guy that follows players.”
Who is your favorite player of all time?
“I don’t know about all time but right now I’d say Jameson Williams from the Detroit Lions. Just the swagger he plays with and the speed he got as well. I just model my game after him.”
What would you say are some of your greatest strengths as a football player?
“Definitely my speed; it’s in the name. My ability to separate from defenders and my release package for sure, and how I get in and out of breaks quickly.”
What is the most appealing part of the University of Florida?
“It’s The Swamp. That stadium after the third quarter, when they play that song, you know I feel like that’s the best stadium I’ve ever been in. Just getting chills from that, I always wanted to play in The Swamp. I actually grew up a Miami fan, but you know it’s not really their stadium; it’s the Hard Rock. Florida having their own stadium, one of the biggest fan bases, I’d say that’s the most appealing thing. I also like the facilities, top-of-the-line facilities, just making sure nutrition is right, state-of-the-art facilities there.”
What is your favorite football memory?
“Scoring my first touchdown on varsity as an eighth grader. I got thrown into the game;, they told me to run the ball, ever since then I’ve just took off.”
Who have you spoken with the most from your recruiting class?
“Definitely Elias Pearl; we had our OV together. Davin [Davidson] as well, I’m still getting to know him. Andrew Beard, we all had our OV together, so we spent a lot of time together. We went out with players and different things like that; those are good guys. Elias and I met up again when we did Friday Night Lights. He was injured, so I just spent some time with him and his family because I went up by myself, so I was just riding around with him and his mom. Pretty cool just getting to know them.”
Which current Florida players have you spoken with the most?
“Marquez Daniel, he was my player host when we went out to Spurrier’s. He was sitting with my family and me. Dallas Wilson as well, and Vernell Brown a little as well too.”
Who are you looking forward to playing with or going against in practice?
“Definitely VB, Dallas [Wilson], those two guys were pretty good freshmen. Learning from them because they are older than me. Going against, I would say some of the Miami DB’s since they are from where I’m from. Definitely Ben Hanks and Jrock (J’Vari Flowers).”
What did Coach Marcus Davis tell you that stuck with you the most?
“Coach [Marcus] Davis is a great guy. He was recruiting me since he was at Auburn. It’s not really just one certain thing; he’s just a great guy. Teaching me about football and being a man as well. Teaching me life skills for sure.”
What kind of player do the coaches believe you can become?
“Definitely a burner in the offense. I’m a cool, laid-back guy, so the coaches like my personality. On the field, definitely a burner that can take the top off and score points.”
What part of your game are you working on the most right now?
“Everything for real. Limiting my drops. I’d say everything, just becoming a complete receiver. Getting stronger and faster in the weight room. Getting ready for the next level.”
What are your goals for your freshman season at Florida?
“Freshman All-American, break the freshman record for receiving yards and touchdowns. I’m just coming to work.”
What should fans expect from you when you arrive on campus?
“Expect a dog. I’m gonna come in and work. Do what others are not doing, coming in early and leaving late. Extra meetings getting to know the offense, that’s what I signed up for. Take advantage of my opportunity.”
Do you have any funny stories/moments with Coach Jon Sumrall or Coach Marcus Davis during the recruitment process?
“Coach [Jon] Sumrall, the first time I met him, he came to my school. As soon as I saw him, he was just fired up. Gave me a hard handshake, almost took my hand off. Just excited to see me for the first time. He was a new coach, so he was just fired up to see me, a top guy in the 2027 class. I feel like me and Coach [Marcus] Davis are kind of the same, just chill and laid back. I also met his family, his daughters, and played the game with them. Probably just playing the game.”
PERSONAL
What is your major going to be?
“I’m still figuring it out. Definitely in the business world. I want to own property and learn about investing. Still looking into it.”
If you had to play a sport outside of football, what would it be?
“That’s a hard one. I mean I run track, but I don’t know about doing that. They don’t make much money; you gotta be top of the world type of speed. That’s the only other sport I really play. I’d probably go with track.”
What is one thing that Gator nation doesn’t know about you?
“I love hibachi. That’s my favorite. I’d eat that every day.”
What would be your first purchase if you got drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft?
“Definitely a house wherever I get drafted to.”
What is one thing that you can’t live without?
“Music. I gotta listen to music every day.”
If you’re given the AUX in the locker room before a big game, what’s your go-to song?
“Sheesh that’s a tough one. Probably some NBA YoungBoy or Lil Durk; I don’t know the exact song, it’ll probably just be an in the moment type thing. Definitely something from those two artists.”
What is your favorite movie or TV show?
“Outerbanks, Beauty in Black, Power Book.”
What are you binge-watching at the moment?
“I’ve been watching Scandal; I just started the second season of Avatar.”
What wild animal would you be, and why?
“Probably a lion. I’m a runner.”
What video games do you play?
“Definitely NCAA. Fortnite as a kid, but I don’t really play the game anymore. Definitely NCAA though if I get on there, I’ll be on all night.”
What are you looking forward to in college outside of football?
“Meeting new people from out of state coming to Florida. Creating relationships; you never know where someone will be in five to ten years. Just creating good relationships and getting to know people.”
What do you want people to think when they hear the name Anthony Jennings five years from now?
“One of the best receivers to come out of Florida.”
What advice do you have for young players dreaming of going to college?
“Just keep working; your time will come. As a kid, I always wanted the offers; I just kept working, and it came randomly. When I got my first offer, I didn’t even know I was getting it. I was like, do I even deserve it. Keep working and keep your head down. Don’t really look at people’s social media and compare yourself.”
What is your favorite quality in a teammate?
“Somebody funny. Someone that looks out for others and not just themselves. Those two for sure, just a good person overall.”
What’s your go-to pregame meal?
“Chicken alfredo.”
If you could have dinner with anybody at any point in history, who would it be?
“Probably like Bill Gates or Mr. Beast. Just learning from them, cause it be the easiest ways how they get rich, like nobody knows how to do it. Just learning from them and picking their brain.”
What three things are on your bucket list?
“Become a five-star, win state, freshman all-American.”
Apple Music or Spotify?
“Neither for real. I’ll go SoundCloud.”
Early bird or night owl?
“Kind of both. It just depends. If I have to work out early, I’ll be up, but if I’m out with homeboys or teammates, I can be out late. Either one works for real.”
Cats or dogs?
“Dogs.”
Quiet or outgoing?
“Quiet for sure.”
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
“People who talk all day and can talk your head off.”
What’s your hidden talent?
“Winning games on NCAA.”
What’s your message for Gator nation?
“I’ll be there in January. Time will go by quick. Just get ready for me in The Swamp. Coming in to do what I got to do.”
