This past weekend, Jon Sumrall and staff welcomed four-star safety Adryan Cole to campus for Florida’s second official visit weekend of the summer. Cole is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound defensive back out of Douglas County High School in Atlanta, Georgia.

Cole spoke with Inside the Gators following his visit to discuss the latest regarding his recruitment.

ADRYAN COLE

What was the highlight of your official visit to Florida?
“I’d say the highlight of the visit was getting to spend quality time with the coaching staff and seeing how everything operates behind the scenes. A lot of schools can show you great facilities, but getting a better feel for the people, the culture, and the vision of the program is what stood out the most. It gave me and my family a chance to evaluate things from a different perspective.”

What was the overall message from the coaching staff to you?
“The overall message was that they see me as a priority and believe I could be a valuable piece of what they’re building. They talked a lot about development, relationships, and competing at a high level. They made it clear that they have a plan for me and that they believe in my ability both on and off the field.”

What is your relationship like with Coach Jon Sumrall?
“My relationship with Coach Sumrall has continued to grow throughout the recruiting process. He’s been consistent in his communication and has always been straightforward with me and my family. I respect the way he coaches and the way he approaches building relationships with players.”

What do you think of safeties Coach Chris Collins? What was it like to get this time with him?
“Coach Collins is a very knowledgeable coach who pays attention to the details of the position. Being able to spend time with him in person was valuable because we were able to talk football, discuss my skill set, and go more in depth about how he sees me fitting into the defense. I enjoyed getting that opportunity and learning more about his coaching style.”

Who was your player host? What was his message to you and what did you guys do?
“My player host was Bryce Thornton. He was honest about his experience at Florida and what it’s like being a student-athlete there. We spent time around campus, got to talk about football and life outside of football, and he answered a lot of questions from a player’s perspective. His message was to make the decision that’s best for me and my family and to make sure I choose a place where I can be successful in every aspect.”

What other official visits do you have lined up for the summer?
“Right now, I’m focused on finishing up my visits [Georgia 6/12 & Ole Miss 6/19] and continuing to gather information on the schools recruiting me. Every visit has given me something different to think about, and I’m trying to take everything in before making a final decision.”

Where does Florida stand on your leaderboard compared to other programs?
“Florida is definitely a program that I’m taking seriously. This visit helped me learn more about the school, the staff, and the overall environment. At the same time, I’m still evaluating all of my options and making sure I make the best decision for my future. I’m fortunate to have several great opportunities, so I’m taking my time and letting the process play out.”

Cole is the No. 191-ranked prospect in the nation according to the Rivals Industry Consensus.
