Centerburg (Ohio) three-star tight end Jackson Ballinger became Jon Sumrall and staff’s first commit of the 2027 cycle back in late February. The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder has been on campus several times, but returned this weekend for his official visit.
Ballinger goes in-depth about his three days in Gainesville.
JACKSON BALLINGER
What was the highlight of the visit to UF?
“The highlight was definitely being able to spend time with the other commits.”
What did the coaches have to say to you?
“The Coaches reinforced what they’ve been saying about how I am a vital player and person for this new class as it continues to grow.”
Who was your player host? What was his message to you? What are some of the things you talked about and did during free time?
“Micah Jones was my host. He was basically talking to me about what it’s like actually being a player there, and he was able to relate to me with a lot of my recruiting process. He, some other guys, and me hung out at his place for both of the nights.”
Does it feel different to come in on a visit as a committed player? Do you feel more like part of the team? How did the players interact with you?
“It’s a night and day difference. The coaches and players treat me like I am already there. I think having that experience reinforces how much of an intentional culture they have and that it was the right choice.”
Three days with Evan McKissack. What was that like?
“Anytime I spend with Coach McKissack is a blessing. I always walk away knowing a lot more about football than I did coming in. Also, he’s very thorough with the way he treats me and my family, which is amazing to be around.”
Ballinger is the No. 408-ranked prospect in the nation according to the Rivals Industry Consensus.
