Over the past week, there have been two major recruiting developments at the safety position. On Monday, Florida received a commitment from three-star Kailib Dillard. The day before that, the Gators received a visit from four-star Adryan Cole.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder out of Douglasville (Ga.) Douglas County High School was visiting UF for the first time under the new coaching staff, and already had an official visit set with the Gators scheduled for next month.
Inside the Gators caught up with Cole following his visit for an update on where he stands in the process.
ADRYAN COLE
What made you decide to take this early May unofficial visit to Florida?
“I wanted to get down there early, build relationships with the staff, and really see if it’s somewhere I could see myself.”
What did you learn about Florida on the visit, and what was the highlight?
“I learned more about how the program is structured and the overall culture there. They weren’t practicing while I was there, but the highlight was getting around the facility and seeing everything up close.”
What coaches did you have a chance to interact with, and what was their message to you?
“I talked with a few of the coaches, and they were just keeping it real with me about development, competing at a high level, and how I could fit into their system.”
What was your initial impression of head coach Jon Sumrall?
“He’s a very direct, straight-up, and energetic guy. I respect how real he is, and you can tell he brings a lot of energy and expects a high level out of his players.”
What is your relationship like with safeties coach Chris Collins?
“I have a good relationship with him. He has been recruiting me since I was in 9th grade.”
What official visits do you have locked in over the summer?
“LSU May 29th, Florida June 4th-6th, Georgia June 12th-14th, and Ole Miss June 19th-21st.”
What are you ultimately looking for when you make your commitment?
“I’m looking for a place that feels right, where I can grow on and off the field, and a staff that really believes in me.”
Where does everything stand right now as far as what programs you’re seriously considering, and when do you plan to decide?
“I’m still keeping my options open and taking my time with everything. My decision date is July 18th.”
Cole is the No. 190-ranked prospect in the nation according to the Rivals Industry Consensus.
