2027 four-star offensive lineman Peyton Miller narrowed his list to a Top 11, and then announced his commitment to Jon Sumrall and the Florida Gators on Monday afternoon. Miller is UF’s 10th overall commitment of the cycle, the second offensive lineman to pledge to the Gators.
Inside the Gators contacted Miller following his commitment. Here is what he had to say.
PEYTON MILLER
Why did you pick the Florida Gators?
“The development and staff mostly. My dad was a strength coach, and my mom is a dietitian. Florida’s program offers a lot of what I was raised to know was important. Plus, the coaches like [Jon] Sumrall, [Phil] Trautwein, [Rusty] Whitt, and [Buster] Faulkner just check all of the boxes of what I am looking for.”
Your thoughts on Florida head coach Jon Sumrall?
“A Dude! I like winning, working hard, and holding people accountable, and so does he. I know you won’t always win, but I don’t want anyone in the locker room to be okay with that, and I don’t think they will under Sumrall.”
Your thoughts on Florida offensive line coach Phil Trautwein?
“He’s great. We’ve developed a great relationship over the last few years. I know he’s one of the best OL coaches and I know he’ll develop me into the best player I can be.”
When did you make the decision to commit to Florida?
“It was this past Friday. My family and I went to dinner, and I made up my mind after talking to my older brothers.”
When did you actually commit? Who did you tell? What was their reaction?
“I called Sumrall and Traut Friday night. They were at dinner with their families. Both of them were excited, and so were their families, which was cool.”
Will you take any visits, official or unofficial, anywhere besides Florida?
“No, I feel like if you’re committed, then be committed.”
Who came in second?
“I’d rather not say. But it was very close between three schools.”
How much did Maxwell Hiller play in your decision? What was his message to you? Where will you two line up on future Florida offensive lines?
Max has been great to get to know. We came to a Spring ball visit at the same time and got to hang out, and then we stayed in touch. I like playing center, but I’ll go anywhere. I feel like he is versatile as well. I would love to see us playing at center and guard, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he plays some tackle as well.”
Who will you try to recruit to Florida?
“Anyone they ask me to. We have a list of recruits with visits scheduled. Some that I know and some that Max knows. Elijah Hutchison, Reed Ramsier, Jordan A [Agbanoma], and LVB are targets we need to get here, along with some others.”
Miller is the No. 130-ranked prospect in the nation according to the Rivals Industry Consensus.
