Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard four-star receiver Anthony Jennings has visited Florida multiple times in the past. He is once again on campus, this time for dual purposes. He not only was able to watch practice on Thursday morning, but he is also taking part in the Florida Relays.
Inside the Gators contacted Anthony following his visit. Here is what he had to say.
ANTHONY JENNINGS QUICK Q&A
You have visited Florida several times before; did you see or learn anything new on this visit?
“Yeah, so you know I’ve come to campus a few times, but you know I just like to come back cause of the new style, you know they just got different energy, a different vibe to them. My coming to spring practice was just seeing how the football team operates with the new staff in person.”
What is your relationship like with Coach Marcus Davis, and what was it like to see him work in his element?
“Oh yeah, with Coach Davis, you know we got a pretty good relationship. You know, since he was at Auburn, he was recruiting me, so we’ve been keeping in contact. As soon as he got to Florida, he was the first one to hit me up when he got the job. It is a pretty good and consistent relationship with him. It’s a good thing to see him every time I come up to Florida.”
What do you think of the new head coach, Jon Sumrall?
“Oh yeah, Coach Sumrall is a cool guy, he’s energetic, you know. Every time I see him, he’s always rowdy, dapping me up, you know, just the loudest in the room. He’s a pretty cool guy; he really wants me to be a Florida Gator.”
You already had official visits with Florida set for June 4th and Auburn for June 11th. Have there been any changes to these dates? Do you have any other official visits lined up?
“No, those two are still locked in. I got Maryland May 28th-30th and Florida State June 12th-14th.”
UF has been part of your recruitment for a while now. Did this visit reinforce or change your mind in any way?
“Yeah, you know, just coming back, it makes my love stronger every time I come up. I got a pretty good relationship with the staff and things like that. You know it’s a pretty cool program. Just coming back every time, just keeping my love stronger and making sure I feel the same way.”
Where would you say Florida stands on your leaderboard?
“They are definitely at the top right now. They keep consistent contact, as I said, the whole staff hits me up every week, checking up on me. It’s not even just like the wide receiver coach or the offensive coaches; it’s the defensive coordinator, the head coach, the DB coach, the safeties coach. The whole program wants me to be a part of this program.
Do you have a set commitment date, or do you know when you’ll make your decision known?
“I’ll probably make my decision around June or July. Even if I make my decision before that, I’ll announce it and make it public by July.”
Jennings is the No. 225 ranked prospect in the nation according to the Rivals Industry Composite.
