Desmond Green is a three-star offensive lineman from St. Stephen, South Carolina. Green had his official visit with the Gators back in June of 2025 and committed shortly after on June 26th, and then signed with the organization on December 3, 2025.

Take us through the process that led to your commitment. What was that experience like for you?
“In like February or March, that’s when I started to really dive into everything a school could offer me. I looked more into the bigger factors that are going to play a role in when I get off campus, too, and not just what they have going on right now. In March, I was with my head coach from high school, and he was telling me that, you know, looking at some things with the graduating offensive line and the guys behind them having as much experience and games, so it would even out the competition for when I stepped on campus. I want to try to get playing time early on in my career. The education of where I’m at, you know, and the culture and everything solidified Florida for me.”
Which school came in second for you and why?
“Georgia or Oklahoma, I can’t really just pick one; they both put a bunch of offensive linemen in the NFL, and both are winning programs. I wanted to be different and do what was best for me and go to Florida.”
If you could play a sport outside of football, which sport would it be?
“I played baseball in seventh and eighth grade, so if I had taken that seriously, probably baseball.”
What is your favorite football memory?
“Definitely winning my first championship in little league football.”
What would you say are some of your greatest strengths as a football player?
“I’d say being able to move people quickly.”
What is the most appealing part to you about the University of Florida?
“There’s not one thing, it’s not too small or big, and it has a beautiful campus. I mean, everything just really appealed to me it was just like every box is checked off.”
What has been your interaction with the new staff and who have you been communicating with most?
“It hasn’t been an everyday conversation, but I have spoken to Coach [Jon] Sumrall and Coach [Phil] Trautwein, and their message has been that they are both excited to get to work and get rolling.”
What instilled your confidence to stay committed to Florida despite the outside noise and coaching changes this season?
“I committed to the school, not just one coach. My word of commitment means something, and I’m going to stick with my decision. I believe everyone when they say that the word-of-mouth commitment doesn’t mean anything anymore because everyone switches their mind.”
In the college football landscape, NIL and money matter on a 1-to-10 scale, how much were they a deciding factor for you when committing to Florida?
“I would say a 2, it did not make a difference for me when making my decision.”
What do you really need to work on the most when you get to Florida?
“Obviously, I will be working on a little bit of everything, but the first two are getting my weight down and becoming faster. I’m glad to be at the University of Florida and eat what they give me rather than just going in the fridge and eating whatever.”
Who is the prospect that you have talked to the most from the Class of 2023?
“The guys I talk to the most are Will Griffin, Tyler Chukuyem, Javarii Luckas, and Chancellor Campbell, so pretty much the offensive line and our class quarterback.”
Who are you looking most forward to either playing with or maybe going against in practice?
“Everyone, honestly, in football we’re all connected in many ways, so being there with everyone will be great.”

What is your major?
“Business.”
If you had a chance to go on a dream date, who would it be with?
“Million Dollars.”
What would be your first purchase if you got drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft?
“I would probably just give my parents some money.”
What is one item that you cannot live without?
“I would say music.”
What is your favorite professional football team?
“Carolina Panthers.”
Who is your favorite professional player right now?
“Robert Hunt or Quinn Meinerz.”
Who has been the biggest role model for you in your life?
“My parents and my high school head coach. My head coach has always held me accountable and will continue to do that while I’m in college. He has always wanted the best for me.”
You’re given the AUX chord for the locker-room before a practice or big game, what is the go-to song you’re playing?
“Pull the Trigger by GraveDigger and Shoot First by MoneyWayPeso.”
What is your favorite movie?
“London Has Fallen”

“Lime Cucumber”
What wild animal would you be, and why?
“Panther”
What are you looking forward to in college outside of football?
“Getting to know and be around different personalities. Also, gaining more freedom.”
What do you look for in a good college roommate? Any idea who you will room with?
“I’m rooming with Tyler Chukuyem, and he first asked me about hiring a maid, so I know it will be clean.”
If you could have dinner with three people from any point in history, who would they be?
“Jesus, Epstein, and Jay-Z”
What are three things on your bucket list?
“Buy a Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG, my own house either in Charleston or Florida, and put an audio system in my truck.”
What do you want people to think when they hear the name Desmond Green five years from now?
“Nothing specific, but that the comments are positive and that I was a good person to be around.”
What is your favorite quality in a teammate?
“Knowing when it’s time to be serious, some people have fun, and it’s good, but when it’s time to be serious, they need to understand that.”
What other Florida athletic teams are you excited to support?
“I would say Florida baseball.”
What is something that Gator Nation would be surprised to find out about?
“A lot of people think I look scary, but I’m a nice guy. If people came up to me, they would realize I’m pretty chill.”
