Javarri Luckas is a three-star offensive lineman from Belle Glade, who committed to Florida over the summer.
Learn more about his recruiting process, his role as a football player, and his personal life in this edition of Getting to Know.
FOOTBALL/RECRUITING
Take us through the process that led to your commitment. What was that experience like for you?
It all started with my cousin, [former UF player], running back Kelvin Taylor (2013-2016). He told me a lot about Florida. I grew up a UF fan as a kid, going to all the games. He talked me through it, and the coaches were already great there! I fell in love with UF, and then I committed; it felt like home.”
Which school came in second for you and why?
“West Virginia. My cousin is committed there, quarterback Jyron Hughley. They have great coaches, and I felt like staying in Florida was the best option for me, and being in the warm weather. It could have been cool being with my cousin, but Florida is home.”
With Coach Sale and Coach DeCoaster departing there after they recruited you, how do you feel about the coaching change?
“I told the new coaching staff I’m ready to work, and how it is going to be without my position coaches that recruited me, but I am ready to get started.”
What was the craziest, strangest, or weirdest moment of the recruiting cycle?
“I was committed to Florida, but I had an official visit with the University of South Florida, and USF called me and told me I couldn’t take my official visit because I was committed to the Gators.”
What advice do you have for young players dreaming of going to college?
“Put your mind to it, and if you are really dedicated, it can happen.”
What would you say are some of your greatest strengths as a football player?
“My footwork and being able to understand the game.”
Who are you looking most forward to either playing with or maybe going against in practice?
“For Defense, definitely Jayden Woods, he is a great player, and for Offense, probably TJ Dice.”
What is your favorite football memory?
“Beating my team’s rival, Pahokee High School.”
What inspired you to start playing football?
“I started playing football in the ninth grade. I was just a big kid walking around school. I just decided one day to try football. I really started playing in the 11th grade, my freshman and sophomore year, I did not get a lot of playing time.”
What is your favorite professional football team?
“The Minnesota Vikings, because of Justin Jefferson, great receiver.”
What is the most appealing part to you about the University of Florida?
“The facility is great. They got a lot of food.”
If you could play a sport outside of football, which sport would it be?
Probably basketball, (When asked his favorite player) he replied: Nikola Jokic. Most people say LeBron James, but I would say Jokic.”
Who is your favorite player of all time?
“Ray Lewis.”

What is your major?
“Sports Management.”
Who has been the biggest role model for you in your life, and why?
“My mom has been with me since I was small, and going through everything she has always been there, going through everything, and we did it together.”
What is one item that you cannot live without?
“My phone can’t go a minute without it.”
What would be your first purchase if you got drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft?
“A new crib for sure. A house.”
What wild animal/insect would you be, and why?
“A rhino because I could run through stuff.”
What are you looking forward to in college outside of football?
“Going out with the guys [Teammates].”
What do you really need to work on the most when you get to Florida?
“Transitioning from high-school I would work on living on my own, pretty excited for that.”
Who have you spoken with the most who is currently on the team?
“Knijeah Harris.”
What is your favorite TV show?
“I like watching The Loud House on Nickeldon.”
What is your favorite flavor of Gatorade?
“Glacier Cherry.”
Are you binging any shows right now?
“IT: Welcome to Derry.”
What is your favorite quality in a teammate?
“He has to be a good listener; you can’t be mad at the coach if he is trying to teach you and you aren’t listening.”
What are three things on your bucket list?
“Travel out of the country, sky-diving, and becoming a millionaire.”
What is your favorite movie?
“Any type of Marvel movie.”
What do you want people to think when they hear the name Javarii Luckas five years from now?
“I want them to think of me as a Florida Legend.”
You’re given the AUX chord for the locker room before a practice or big game, what is the go-to song you’re playing?
“Any NBA Young Boy song.”
What is your favorite meal to cook?
“I don’t really cook, I just put a Hot Pocket in the microwave. I airfry a lot of stuff. I usually put Tyson chicken tenders in the air fryer with fries and top it with ranch when I’m done.”
If you could have dinner with three people from any point in history, who would they be, and why?
“Martin Luther King Jr., LeBron James, and Rosa Parks, three African American legends.”
