Florida head coach Billy Napier and linebacker Myles Graham met with the media on Wednesday for a look ahead to this week’s matchup against No. 9 Texas.
BILLY NAPIER
Billy Napier’s Opening Statement: “Team brought energy in practice today, I thought we got better today, and we know Texas has a good football team. We need to have an epic game day for Saturday.”
On health of the receivers: “Aidan [Mizell] is healthy, Dallas [Wilson] is healthy, J. Michael [Sturdivant] is back.”
Receiver Aidan Mizell will play on Saturday
Napier on Arch Manning: “The Manning family as a whole, their character and professionalism, they are grounded, they have substance.”
Napier on three-game losing streak: “Awareness is key and communication, listen to the players, and you cannot underestimate the value.”
Napier on the environment in the Swamp for the players: “Playing at home, starting fast, this is a 3:30 kickoff, we need them [fans] to wrap the tailgate up, this game is critical.”
Napier on transfer defensive end Kofi Asare: “Kofi gets better every day. He gained 30lbs, he’s learning how to use his length, and he has strength.”
With Dijon Johnson and Aaron Gates out, true freshmen J’Vari Flowers and Lagonza Hayward will see more time.
Flowers is the third cornerback behind Devin Moore and Cormani McClain.
Napier said that McClain was on thin ice after he transferred in from Colorado, but credited his teammates for helping turn him around. Said he has a high ceiling.
MYLES GRAHAM
Graham on stepping up being a leader: “I think the guys like me being a leader, and it’s a hard job, I don’t like when I have to get on somebody, but being a vocal leader, things have to happen.”
On practice: “Today is very physical, lots of energy, and we definitely went at it.”
Graham to the fanbase: ”We need the fans. We know it’s been a rough start to the year.”
