Florida head coach Billy Napier met with the media on Monday for a look back at the loss to USF and ahead to this week’s matchup against No. 3 LSU.

Edge LJ McCray broke his foot on Saturday and will be sidelined for a while.
Napier made it clear that he is Florida’s play caller and will continue in that role. “There is no giving that up and will continue through the season.”
Napier on the USF game, “The emphasis on the players is the best way to win is to not beat yourself, the red zone scoring early caused us to lose momentum early.”
Napier on the team,” I have a lot of confidence in this group, and when we do it right, it’s a lot of fun to watch.”
Napier on the lack of sacks from the edge rushers, “We’ve got to create opportunities and play well on first and second downs. I do think how teams play you also contributes. South Florida did a good job managing third down.”
Napier said that defensive tackle Brendan Bett is remorseful for getting the spitting penalty: He said that Bett feels like he let the team down, and it was out of character for him. He didn’t say whether or not he would be suspended by the team, but said that there would be some internal discipline.
Napier on tackling, “We missed 11 tackles, two that were critical, but those numbers reflect playing good competition.”
