Inside the Gators asked Florida commitments and targets for their thoughts on the No. 13 Gators’ 18-16 loss to South Florida. Find out what targets, including four-star Jordan Gorham, Jaden Upshaw, and JC Wessel as well as others, thought of the game.

- 2027 three-star receiver target Amare Patterson
I think Florida would have won the game easily if it weren’t for the penalties. I know Coach [Billy] Napier is going to rally the team, and they will have a winning season. It’s still early, and I know the coaches work very hard on getting their players prepared. The play calling was good. I know all of the receivers work hard at practice, and they ran good routes during the game. The energy was high, and the fans cheered from start to finish nonstop. I could feel the Gator Nation culture. I see the fans’ passion for football runs deep. Before the game, Coach G [Billy Gonzales] came in and welcomed my family and me. We conversed briefly; he was very excited, had a lot of energy, and after the game, he discussed the ups and downs of the game. Then he stated he was happy I came and looking forward to seeing me again.
- 2027 four-star receiver target Jaden Upshaw
The atmosphere was amazing & I think that Florida could’ve just come out and executed a little more, and the receivers had some great plays.
- 2028 four-star wide receiver target Jordan Gorham
It was a hard loss, but I know they can compete, so I’m not worried. The atmosphere was electric. The chants, the atmosphere overall were amazing, and the coaches were very cool. I really liked talking to them.
- 2028 three-star defensive lineman Chase Foster II
It was a tough loss, but I loved how we kept playing until the end. The defense made good stops and kept attacking every play. The defensive line was tough, and 94 (Tyreak Sapp) sack was fire. The atmosphere was amazing, and it was so loud, probably one of the loudest games I’ve been to. The coaches told me they want me to continue to grind and not get complacent, keep getting better. Keep building a relationship with them and come back down for camp in the summer.
- 2028 tight end JC Wessel
It was an interesting game, but Florida is better, and we all know that. It all came down to defense – it wouldn’t have been the case if the offense hadn’t made minor mistakes and made the big plays happen. I love the TE he’s a great guy, and the player’s skills are definitely amazing. The atmosphere was also great, and it was definitely a good game. I talked with some of the coaches; however, they were frustrated about the loss.

It was a tough night in the Swamp, never fun to lose. The atmosphere was electric all night, and the crowd was amazing. The coaches, we’re excited to see me, congratulated me on my big win vs Lake Mary Friday night. It’s my dream to be a Gator; one loss will not deter me from a life-changing program like UF.

Yeah, tough loss by UF. I think all the flags are what made us lose that game. The o-line did a really good job in that game. The USF coach texted me after the game and asked if I enjoyed the game. I definitely laughed, and I told them good game.
