Florida head coach Billy Napier met with the media on Wednesday for an update on Fall camp and the season opener against Long Island.

BILLY NAPIER

• Napier on practice this week, “Tuesday and Wednesday were tough days, but good days. We have a bunch of playmakers and they are ready to make plays.”
• Napier on quarterbacks Aidan Warner, Harrison Bailey, and Tramell Jones Jr. vying for the backup spot,” I have been pleased with what I have seen and have a lot of confidence in all three of the guys. We will let them know at the end of the week, like every other player, who the backup will be.”
• Napier on comeback players, “Jamari [Lyons] is a situation that I think was challenging, and with his diabetes that contributed to the seriousness of the injury. He has presence and is excited to see Jamari play. A long road back and he’ll play with passion.”
• On Vernell Brown III, “He is ahead of schedule and a little more mature. He comes from a competitive environment and has watched and observed a lot of football.”
• Napier called Dallas Wilson exceptional and said that he will be a major factor this season.
• Napier on Aaron Gates (who committed to Florida under the previous staff), “He was highly recruited and we got on him at the jump. His family as a whole is impressive. I believe the guy can play all five positions.”
