No. 24 Florida traveled to No. 18 South Carolina with the understanding that it wasn’t going to be easy. It looked great at the half as the Gators had a six point lead. They even had 10 point lead with just over 12 minutes left to go. However, the Orange and Blue struggled yet again during the last 10 minutes of the game and fell 82-76 to the Gamecocks.

Inside the Gators’ Instant Analysis takes a quick look at how the game unfolded.

IT WAS OVER WHEN: Meechie Johnson scored a triple from the wing to put the Gamecocks up by three. South Carolina swarmed the Gators on defense, and Florida could not find an opening. Back-to-back empty possessions for Florida cost the game as the Gamecocks made their free throws.

THEY STOLE THE SHOW: Zyon Pullin led the Gators today. He scored Florida’s first six points when the Gators couldn’t buy a bucket and were down big. The guard finished the night with 18 points, seven assists and four rebounds. Ultimately, his team let him down when it mattered most at the end.

THESE STATS DON’T LIE: It was scoring run after scoring run all afternoon in the Colonial Life Arena. The Gamecocks started with an 8-0 run followed by Florida’s 14-0 run. Both teams went on to have a 7-0 run towards the end of the first half. In the second half, the Gamecocks took control of the runs, including a 16-5 run, which ultimately won them the game.

THIS MATCHUP PROVIDED KEY: Both teams guards had great games, but there was one man who couldn’t buy a bucket tonight. After scoring four points against Missouri, Will Richard laid an egg with 0 points and 0 assists. Golden chose not to put Thomas Haugh back in after his excellent first half scoring nine points and dishing two assists. This ultimately led to Florida losing as the Gators couldn’t score at the end.

WHAT A PLAY: Alex Condon got up there! Pullin had the ball at the point and drove in. He jumped from beyond the free throw arc and lobbed the ball to the Australian. Condon leaped over Murray-Boyles and slammed it home to give Florida a 10 point lead.

UP NEXT: The No. 24 (20-9, 10-6) Gators are back home on Tuesday to take on conference opponent No. 14 (20-8, 12-3) Alabama. The Crimson Tide play later today against No. 4 Tennessee.
