Tampa (Fla.) Wharton 2026 offensive lineman Canon Pickett, grew up a fan of Miami, the school where his father Booker Pickett Sr. played and where his brother Booker Pickett signed with in December, found himself in ‘enemy’ territory on Saturday when he visited Florida for the Gators’ Jr. Day.

While on campus the 6-foot-4, 280-pounder earned an offer from UF.

QUICK Q&A

What was the highlight of your visit today?
“The highlight of my visit was definitely getting the offer. I was with all of the offensive line coaches and they were showing me love all day. It was great.”

Which coaches did you speak with the most, and what did they have to say to you?
“The coach I talked with the most was Coach Kaleb Johnson. He went to the same college as my head coach. We were really just talking about the school and the future of the team.”

Is there anything new you learned about the Gators today that you didn’t know before? If so, what?
“I didn’t know that the Gators were the No. 1 public school in America.”

What is the most impressive thing you saw either on a tour of the campus or during one of the presentations? What really stood out?
“What really stood out was the attention to academics. They had a big building [Hawkins Center] just for tutoring and it seems I would get the help I need academic-wise.”

How do you feel about Florida after visiting today?
“I feel like they are a great program, and I would fit in well with them.”

Your father played for Miami and your brother signed with the Hurricanes, does that automatically give UM an advantage?
“I’ve grown up a Hurricane’s fan, but Booker’s signing doesn’t give them an advantage.”

It’s still early for you, but do you have any leaders or a leaderboard?
“I don’t have any specific leaders yet, but I really enjoyed Florida.”

Did you get a chance to speak with any of the players, if so, who and what did they say to you?
“At the end of the visit they had a player panel where the players answered questions about the team and lifestyle. While I didn’t talk to any players then, my old teammate – Dijon Johnson – who graduated from Wharton and goes to Florida, we’ve had some conversations.”

Do you know of any visits you have coming up in the spring?
“I don’t have any visits confirmed, but I travel and play with California Power, so I will most likely be wherever they are.”
