Blythewood (S.C.) 6-foot-5, 300-pound defensive lineman Sterling Sanders has early offers from Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Liberty, and UCONN, and interest from SEC programs such as Florida, South Carolina.

He attended the Gators’ final Jr. Day on Saturday.

QUICK Q&A

What was the highlight of your visit today?
“The highlight of my visit was when the staff opened the door and started greeting me like I’m already a part of the family.”

Which coaches did you speak with the most, and what did they have to say to you?
“I spoke to Coach [Gerald] Chatman and Coach [Kali] James. They both said that they are coming to watch me practice during the spring.”

What is your impression of new UF defensive line coach Gerald Chatman?
“I absolutely had a great first impression! I would love to play for him.”

Is there anything new you learned about the Gators today that you didn’t know before? If so, what?
“I learned about the academic staff and how they will help you be successful while in school and after graduation.”

What is the most impressive thing you saw either on a tour of the campus or during one of the presentations? What really stood out?
“What really stood out is when the coaches walked out with their own theme music. Everyone’s theme music was cool, but I think Coach [Billy] Gonzales and Coach [Mike] Peterson were the best. I think it was Return Of The Mack and Nola Clap.”

How do you feel about Florida after visiting today?
“Florida is one of my potential colleges to go to.”

It’s still early for you, but do you have any leaders or a leaderboard?
“My recruitment is still completely open at the moment. Florida’s among the leaders, and the others, in no particular order, are South Carolina, Georgia Tech, UConn, Liberty, Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, and UNC Charlotte.”

Did you get a chance to speak with any of the players, if so, who and what did they say to you?
“I met defensive tackle Cam Jackson. Cam and I talked about how the school is a great place and how his recruitment went. He said that I would really love the Gators and also he only has one year left so he was talking about how he was striving for more sacks! His goal is to get seven or more sacks this season.”

Do you know of any visits you have coming up over the spring?
“Over the spring I’m visiting Georgia Tech, Liberty, Georgia Southern, Coastal Carolina, UNC Charlotte, App State, and East Carolina.”
