To close out the month of May, just before the start of Florida’s June Summer Camp season began, the Gators extended an offer to Roswell (Ga.) Fellowship Christian School four-star offensive tackle Josh Petty.

Did you have a favorite college team (or player) growing up?
“I grew up a big Tennessee fan because of my dad. We always used to watch the games together.”
Out of your early offers is there one or two that really caught your attention? A ‘wow’ moment?
“I feel like all my offers have been ‘wow’ moments and really impacted me greatly.”
How did the Florida offer come about? Who did you communicate with and what did they have to say to you?
“I talked a lot with the offensive line coach [Rob Sale]. We talked about my life, his career, and what Florida has to offer.”
What are your early impressions of Florida?
It’s a great school. It’s not too far from home. They definitely have something going on.”
Have you visited any college campuses yet? If so, where and what were a couple of your favorite visits?
“I’ve been on a couple of visits [Auburn, Georgia, Georgia Tech, South Carolina, and Tennessee]. All of them were special, but the SEC schools really know how to do it.”
Do you have a planned trip to Florida?
“Not yet. I will definitely make a trip to Florida.”
It’s still early, but do you have any leaders or are there a couple of programs that you know will be there until the very end for whatever reason?
“I mean every school is special in its own way and seeing what they do in the future will be a huge part in who’s leading.”
What’s going to be important to you when you make your choice?
“For me, academics is really big.”
Petty is the No. 16 ranked prospect in the nation in the Class of 2025 according to the On3 Consensus.
