2026 Prospect Update

Last Friday night, just when Florida’s Friday Night Lights Camp was getting underway, 2026 Burford (Ga.) four-star James Morrow was ending his unofficial visit and announcing via Twitter that he had received an offer from the Gators.

Despite having three more years of high school football remaining, the 6-foot-4, 230-pounder arrived in Gainesville with offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, Penn State, and Texas A&M.

Next up was the Gators.

“I already talked to Coach [Billy] Napier and I was walking around about to leave the building when Coach [Kali] James, the defensive line coach, walked up to me and was like, ‘Did Coach Napier tell you that we offered you?’

“I was like, ‘No Sir, he didn’t,'” said Morrow. “And he said, ‘Yeah, you have an offer from us.'”

Though it’s still incredibly early, Morrow said that the Florida offer gave him something to think about.

“It was like, I got an adrenaline rush you could say,” said Morrow. “After being here today [last Friday], it feels like home and I can see myself here.”

To have any offers three cycles out is impressive enough, but to receive offers from some elite programs takes it to another level.

Morrow said that one early offer already stands out above the crowd. You might think it is from the home-state Bulldogs, but he went in another direction.

“I’d say my offer from Alabama is the one I couldn’t believe the most,” said Morrow. “They’ve won so much and they’ve been on top for so long that getting that offer really set me off.”

Regardless of how he feels about all of these early offers, Morrow said he is nowhere near the point where he is ready to start thinking about leaders.

“I have to be real with myself. None of these offers are committable,” said Morrow. “Are they going to keep up with me and still be recruiting me next year? I’d say I’m not really worrying about leaders right now or recruiting. I’m just keeping my head down, keep grinding and recruiting will take care of itself. Then in a year or two or whenever, when I feel like I have a good list of schools to pick from I’ll do something.”

Recruiting aside, Morrow said that he has a Florida return date targeted but not set in stone.

“I’d like to get back this summer, but I don’t want to talk about visit plans until they are set. The coaches talked about me visiting for a game and said the FSU game would be a good one.”

  1. Another really intelligent kind who understands where he's at in the process. UF starting to recruit elite athletes early enough in their recruitment to be a real factor. 2025 will be the first class Napier will be recruiting on an even field with the other better SEC programs. Good to see.
