Earlier this week, Florida Class of 2025 quarterback commit Austin Simmons named his former Pahokee (Fla.) teammate Hardley Gilmore as a prospect he would like to see join him in Gainesville.

UF has already offered the 2025 four-star athlete, and the 6-foot-1, 165-pound speedster called it one of his recruiting ‘wow’ moments.

QUICK Q&A

Did you have a favorite college team, or player, growing up?
“Florida State was my favorite college team growing up because of players like Kelvin Benjamin, Jameis Winston, and Coach Jimbo Fisher.”

You have some impressive early offers, but is there one or two that really caught your attention? A ‘wow’ moment?
“Two offers that really caught my eye were Alabama and Florida. I say Alabama because it was shocking. It felt like I was in a dream because Alabama produces the best and I watched them growing up and it’s every kid’s dream to play in the best program. I say Florida because that’s my parents’ dream school and I liked it a lot when I visited it last spring my 9th-grade year. It felt like I made my parents proud by receiving that offer.”

How did the Florida offer come about?
“The Florida offer came about with coach Deck [David Doeker]. He was very impressed with my film and wants me to come up to visit.”

What is your initial impression of Florida?
“My early impressions of Florida is that they are building and it will be something special very soon.”

Are any campus visits coming up that you know of?
“I have plans to visit a lot of schools and Florida will be one of them.”

It’s early for you, but do you have a leader or leaders at this point?
“No, I don’t have any leaders yet.”

Florida quarterback commit Austin Simmons was at Pahokee with you. What does he tell you about the Gators?
“Austin has great things to say about Florida – from the education, athletics, and the atmosphere.”

When it comes time for you to decide, what is going to be important for you?
“First I am looking for education. Is it top tier and going to help me develop? Coming in to play as a freshman. Also, the relationship outside of football and when my career comes to an end. A place that feels like home!”

Gilmore is the No. 110 ranked prospect in the nation according to the On3 Consensus.
